Skincare for sensitive, oily, ageing skin

Anti-ageing skincare for oily skin

It’s quite a task to find skincare for sensitive, ageing skin. A product that does all the work of plumping, smoothing, firming, evening skin tone, diminishing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles and providing broad-spectrum sun protection – whilst also calming redness, soothing the skin and not causing irritation. In part, because a single product can’t replace a good anti-ageing routine. As a result, Paula’s Choice designed two kits that address the needs above, each containing a few products designed to work together as anti-ageing for oily skin.

In particular, RESIST Anti-Ageing is ideal for sensitive skin because every product is fragrance-free with textures appropriate for every skin type. The Essential Kit covers anti-ageing for oily, sensitive skin for those who like a stellar, quick routine. The Advanced Kit adds three more products for a bit more anti-ageing (& oil balancing) oomph.

The RESIST Essential Kit for Normal to Oily Skin includes a simple, three-step routine for morning and evening: Cleanse, exfoliate, moisturise, with sun protection during the day and a boost of effective anti-ageing ingredients at night.

RESIST Anti-Ageing Foaming Cleanser has a gentle cream-to-foam formula that cleanses, removes excess oil and visibly reduces pore size without disrupting the skin’s protective barrier. Like the best anti-ageing cleansers, ours include soothing ingredients to calm sensitive skin.

RESIST Anti-Ageing 2% BHA Exfoliant is a gentle, leave-on exfoliant that, used once or twice a day, gives a smoother and more even-toned skin with fewer visible signs of ageing. Beta hydroxy acid (BHA or salicylic acid) works by loosening the bonds between dead and living skin, so surface layers gently shed away. Skin can shed dead skin cells by itself, until age and sun damage slow down the process. BHA can also exfoliate inside the pores, which unclogs the pore and keeps excess oil flowing freely. Our formula includes an anti-ageing cocktail of antioxidants and peptides to soothe the skin and protect against environmental stressors.

RESIST Anti-Ageing Moisturiser SPF 50 is a lightweight, matte-finish daytime moisturiser that smooths and protects without feeling greasy. With the addition of key antioxidants and broad-spectrum sun protection, it covers everything you need when searching for an anti-ageing cream for sensitive skin.

This RESIST Anti-Ageing Moisturiser replaces your SPF moisturiser as the last step in your evening routine. Its lightweight formula contains vitamin C and niacinamide to target uneven skin tone, minimise discolouration, address pore size and provide maximum hydration.

To create a more advanced routine for normal to oily skin, simply add a few more quick steps to your daily routine:

After cleansing morning and night, apply the RESIST Anti-Ageing Repairing Toner. This potent liquid which contains peptides and niacinamide, visibly smooths signs of sun damage, minimises the appearance of enlarged pores and improves uneven skin tone. It’s hydrating enough to substitute as your nighttime moisturiser when you want an even lighter form of moisture.

After toning and exfoliating, apply the lightweight RESIST Anti-Ageing Ultra-Light Antioxidant Serum for a visible firming boost and rejuvenation.

What causes ageing and wrinkles?

The main culprit behind ageing skin and wrinkles is cumulative sun damage inflicted on unprotected skin. Not all ingredients are created equal, and some may attribute to skin becoming more sensitive, reducing its natural ability to protect itself. Last but not least, bad skincare habits. Ensure that your skincare routine is working for you and not against you and read up on our beginner's guide to routines.

When should I use anti-ageing products?

SPF is the bread and butter of anti-ageing products and should be used from as young as just six months of age. Sun damage is the number one cause of ageing so making sure your skin is protected from harmful rays is your best move.

Why does my skin get more sensitive as I age?

Skin doesn't necessarily become more sensitive as we age. Some skin concerns may remain steadfast throughout your life or advents like menopause might bring about changes in your skin.

How to treat oily, ageing skin?

If you're struggling with oily and ageing skin, adapt your routine to include textures and ingredients that control oil while alleviating signs of ageing. In terms of managing signs of oiliness, go for lightweight textures that aren't going to weigh down or clog the skin such as a lightweight SPF that also has an anti-ageing benefit. Pair these products with other anti-ageing heroes such as niacinamide, retinols (especially our 1% Retinol Booster, which has a great texture for oily skin) and try gel-like formulas like our Calm Nourishing Gel Cleanser.
